symbolized the dedication, love, and
loyalty the faculty and students held for C of E.

Requiem [for the Bell]
Hear me, O Lord
Wrought and rung by loving hands
my peal was heard in far off lands
till we were touched by tragedy,
brought down by catastrophe
silence cloaked my destiny.
Saved by grads for all to see
proud I am now to be
their symbol for a century
of faith and service and loyalty
to the fighting spirit of C. of E.
When one day I cannot hear
voices of my grads so dear
though no longer heard from
shore to shore
I would toll for each once more
then stand here in silence evermore.
